Wendy-Myra Tipper trained in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter at Toye, Kenning & Spencer, who hold a Royal Warrant to HM Queen Elizabeth II during Wendy’s tenure and to HM King Charles III today. The Rusty Kiln blends centuries-old craftsmanship with contemporary passion. Wendy specializes in bespoke enamel jewellery, particularly miniature pet portraits hand painted onto vitreous enamel, with each piece celebrating the bond between animals and their owners. This artistry also honors the legacy of Wendy’s father, the late Graham Payne, a Worcester artist. The Rusty Kiln name pays homage to Wendy’s enamelling kiln, purchased as a used item in the 1980s. Now 50 years old and adorned with rust, it continues to burn brightly. Every piece created, including pet memorials, passes through this kiln, symbolizing endurance, heritage, and the beauty of lasting craftsmanship.
